Cardboard Coffins

Cardboard Coffin
A coffin does cost a lot and materials such as wood or metal make them even more expensive. A good coffin can cost around 3000 dollars and are well out of the reach of common people but nowadays most of the casket stores around the globe have come up with new cardboard coffins.

Cardboard is a bio degradable material and is light weight but flexible. A sheet of cardboard costs one fifth as much as that of wood or metal and is easily available. Owing to these properties, cardboard coffins have a lot of advantages as described below:

  • Cardboard coffins are made up of bio degradable materials and they help in reducing the carbon footprints in our environment. They are environmentally friendly and they decompose completely within a period of 6 months.
  • Cardboard coffins are much lighter than their metal or wooden counterparts and are also more flexible.
  • Customizing a cardboard coffin according to your preference is a much easier job than heavy metal caskets and hence they are cheaper as compared to others.
  • A typical cardboard coffin would cost around 200 to 300 dollars and is much more affordable than the metal or the wooden caskets.

The only disadvantage that they have over the other types of coffin is that they are not suitable for carrying heavy weights.  Using multiple layer of cardboard can do away with this disadvantage. A recent survey of casket stores around the globe has revealed that these cardboard coffins have already become more popular than the traditional coffins.
