Buying a Metal Casket at a Casket Store

IMG_6733 In today’s coffin market, the majority of metal caskets available in a Casket Store are referred to as “protective” caskets.  These metallic coffins are made with a one-piece rubber gasket run around the inner lid of the casket.  Once the the casket is locked, the gasket forms a seal around the base which creates a vacuum inside the coffin.  A metal casket will protect a deceased from the ravages of air and other grave site elements.

For the most part, metal caskets are made from stainless steel and are available in many grade, finishes and styles.  The thickness of the coffin is scaled from its thicker 16 gauge model to the thinner 20 gauge models.

There are some coffin manufacturers that offer more expensive copper and bronze caskets.  But be prepared for a heftier price tag due to the cost of the building materials.
